The Dark Knight’s Dungeon

IMG_2270

Played 1st July 2018

Theme

“You are trapped in a medieval castle. You have one hour to escape before your jailer returns from his break.”

Host

Our host was really friendly and welcomed us to Happy Hour. We were asked to read the safety brief and taken to the room where our host told us the plot. We were given a clip board and pen, then locked away in the dungeon.

Room Set Up

The room gave a medieval feel, lighting is dim and decorations were sparse but the room was spacious and in keeping with the theme. There was plenty of room for the maximum sized team.

Game Play

This game had a couple non linear puzzles which came together during the game. An aspect that we liked about this game is that it was quite a physical game with a number of skill puzzles to complete with a couple mentality challenging mathematical problems to solve. (As we had lost the pen 10 minutes into the game, the puzzles were harder to solve)

Clue System

Clues were given via a TV scene however clues were only given if the host felt you needed them. Also to note the host cannot hear anything which made our game more entertaining as Laura broke out all her best charades moves to the camera asking for a pen as we lost the one we had down the side of a puzzle, it was disappointing as we weren’t given a pen and nobody came to find out what we were trying to say to the camera.

Escape Time

46 minutes

Our Overall Rating

Puzzles ★★★★

Immersion ★★★★

Difficulty ★★☆☆☆

Wow Factor ★★★☆☆

Overall Experience ★★★☆☆

This game marks our first year since our first ever escape room and it was also our brothers first escape! We really enjoyed how physical the puzzles were and how they incorporate the theme in to their game. We also liked the novelty of having to wear a costume, however felt that the game needed a few more puzzles to bulk the game out, if we had a pen we would have escaped a lot sooner as the puzzles involve some serious maths skills, luckily without a pen we escaped very early. We had a souvenir photo printed to take away, which was a nice touch.
