Theme

“Will you be able to escape from our ESCAPE ROOM? You will need to solve a series of puzzles, clues and crack the code required to escape the room before your 60 minutes run out..”

Host

Our host greeted us on arrival and asked if we were ready to play our game but we decided to visit The Real Crime Museum first before it closed as its linked to the escape room. After our look around we came back to see our host who went through the do’s and dont’s then locked us away in the room.

Room Setup

The room is spacious enough to fit the maximum sized Team, although in part of the game space is a little more cosy. The rooms is adequately lit and the decoration in the room is good, with most things that you would expect to see, this along with the background music gave the feel you were in a office. One thing to note there is a strong smell of damp inside the room which became very over bearing after some time of being in the room.

Game Play

This is a very linear game, although we did skip a section due to a little flaw in the set up of the room. There was a good mix of puzzles including word, observational and logical puzzles. This room requires a good rummage through to collect items you need to progress through the game. During this game we found it a little tricky to find strong correlations between clues for puzzles, which hindered the flow of the game. The game uses key and coded padlocks and a safe which is very temperamental.

Clue System

Clues were given via an intercom system where a member of the team could press a button. It was helpful to be able to talk to the host directly, but there is only one camera which is on the intercom button, this meant the host is unable to see the whole room and it was awkward at times trying to explain your progression point of the game in order for the host to give you a hint.

Escape Time

67 minutes, we would have done it under 60 but the safe took some time to sort.

Our Overall Rating

Puzzles ★★☆☆☆

Immersion ★★☆☆☆

Difficulty ★★☆☆☆

Wow Factor ☆☆☆☆

Overall Experience ★★☆☆☆

We felt disappointed with this game as nothing in the room seemed to fit and there isn’t any obvious theme throughout the room. The strong smell of damp really hindered the room as well as the safe. The room is a great starting point as it has only just opened, there is a lot of potential. As the room is linked to the Real Crime Museum it would be great if they incorporated a theme to fit the location, for example helping Charles Bronson escape from prison.
